The trip to wabatongushi was cold, windy and rainy this year. I took Bill Bridenbaugh, Dave Switzer, Jason Zachrich Matt Mcgill, Dave Geiger and my dog Whiley age 12. We blew in on Aug 1 and left Thurs Aug 6. Fishing was way off this year compared to many years past. We spent 8-8 fishing with several hours off for lunch. We caught walleye but not like last past years. We caught a lot of big Northerns or slimy snakes. We gave a few to the bears but released all the rest. The cabin needed some worked but we were only able to half fix the front porch. The horizontal logs on the NW corners horizontal logs have been attacked by ants. We cut the bad stuff out and supported the cabin where the corner won’t fall anymore. We need to get a cedar log in there and fix it cosmetically.
The cabin really needs to be stained and perhaps re seal the cracks in the logs. We also are very low on gas and need to figure out a solution to the heavy tanks of propane gas. I have two 20 pounders up there. If everyone would bring a 20 pounder up and take the old empty tank home, I think that would solve the problem. Once in awhile someone could bring up two and keep it going.
We all had a great time. I’ll try and post a few pictures of the porch work.

If you have anyother pictures just make sure to put them on the site.

You may remove the pictures that I posted a long time ago of Dar Stock. I just posted them for some old memories. |
